Catalyst 12.4 update not recognized by PCs?

This is an issue I've noticed in several computers. First, I updated my main desktop build from 12.3 to 12.4 by way of clean install (choosing the "Completely Uninstall ALL AMD Software" option in the Catalyst Install Manager, uninstalling the manager itself, and then (after rebooting) installing the new drivers). I was a little puzzled when it showed up in the Catalyst Control Center as still being 12.3, but thought little of it. Then I upgraded my brothers' PC (Win7x64, Intel Q6600, Asus Radeon HD 5670) to 12.4 from 12.1 with a clean install, and I upgraded my laptop from 12.1 to 12.4 without a clean install. Both show up as still being 12.1. Most confusing of all, earlier today when I booted up my desktop PC today I was greeted with a prompt saying that I was on driver version 12.3 and that update 12.4 was available! This is all just a bit confusing.

I haven't had any major problems with 12.4 otherwise. There is the acknowledged HD WMV video corruption issue, and distant mountain textures sometimes flicker in Skyrim even though those were supposedly fixed by 12.3 and 12.4. Other than that things are just peachy.

It's just a glitch in Catalyst. On my old 5850s, I saw this constantly using Afterburner, which would read the same inaccurate information. Despite multiple updates, I was somehow "still" on 11.12 by the time 12.4 came around. Don't worry, the update took.

Ugh, 12.4 sucks. Every time I reboot my HTPC I have to reinstall the 12.4 update to use the OC function in Catalyst.

When is 12.5 going to be released?

Damn, I guess I'm doing it wrong again. I installed the 12.4 drivers over the 12.3 version without uninstalling/rebooting and have had zero issues at all. Gotta go figure out where I went wrong so I can share in the angst.

The problem I had with 12.4's was it totally screwed up my audio through the 6870. I rolled back to 12.3 and it was fine after that. Who knows.

Search Catalyst 12.4a (AMD patch) to resolve this issue. Fixed it on the computers with AMD cards.
