What is AMD doing to fix load times? It was my understanding that this was a problem with BC2 itself, affecting many cards.

I wonder if the game is hitting the driver's shader compilier with a long list of shaders to use for that level, and choking it. Maybe ATI took those shaders and pre-compilied them and just stored them in the driver binary instead. :p

I'm pretty sure this problem affects ATI cards in general.

My rig with my 5850 will take over twice as long to load vs. the same rig with my 8800GT. My load times are slower than all my friends with nVidia cards despite having a faster CPU, more RAM, and faster hard drives.

The game looks awesome though, however its annoying loading into a game of Rush to find a point already destroyed and noobs having already taken over all the vehicles and promptly getting them killed.

Wow. I never even thought I had a loading time problem because it was never really that long. With new drivers the load times are instant for me. Im the first one in servers now.

It was always faster than TF2, but that wasn't that bad because it took everyone that long, and there is a wait before round start. BC2 just starts as soon as it loads. Most everyone had a good 30 second start on me.

I know some NVIDIA cards are affected (I saw the GTX 400 series specifically mentioned at Hardforums).

Seems that is related to DX11 version of Bad Company 2 with DX11 cards, I don't have that issue and I haven't seen someone with a DX10/DX10.1 with the issue whatsoever.

They could improve the handling of anything that passes assets to their driver (e.g. shaders, textures, geometry models, etc). I’ve seen drivers improve load times in games before.

It's a DX11 thing. Roll back to DX9/10 and you'll enjoy fast loading.

I don't know whether it's a DX11&ATI thing or just a DX11 thing though. :D
Any GF100 owner here?

This is wrong.. Dx10 and Dx11 loaded slowly on ATI cards prior to these drivers, Dx9 loads quickly but looks like ass (no AA, no HBAO, flickering textures). Nvidia does not have this problem with any version of DirectX.

So, GF100 doesn't load slowly under DX11? Any link to that or have you got a card?

I do not have the card.. I've only read the discussions on how ATI loads shaders, both as mentioned by DICE and Catalyst Maker. It seemed pretty clear that it was an ATI issue (and not DirectX, DICE, or Nvidia's issue). I guess we'll see.

Nope....dx9 here and the loading times are super long....it doesnt look bad but the flickering is terrible. Oh well time to try these......I was trying to use the leaked one (874)but it does not instal the drivers. You have to look for them of the folder

I definitely noticed an increase in load times going from two GTX26's to a 5970. Hope this works!

Slow load is present on my 4850. Takes a good 45 seconds to load into a map, with little to no HD access.

Cinebench OpenGL scores through the roof with this! Nearly TWICE as fast!

Like I said, according to HardForums (and apparently Kyle) it's a DX11 problem and not just an AMD problem: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1510441. Which in turn is making me wonder what they did.

Slow load is present on my 4850. Takes a good 45 seconds to load into a map, with little to no HD access.

My initial thought was DX11 as well, but my friends with 4800 series cards are loading slow as well, so it isn't simple.

Also, while GTX400 cards might be affected by this problem, they were virtually nonexistent when this became a known issue so it became easy to clump the problem as only certain ATI cards having the issue.
