*plane* ticket?

searching would have yielded http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=38&threadid=824225 and two other threads about catalina.

to quote myself:

Catalina Express costs about $33 per person round trip. You can ferry across boats, bikes, kayaks and such. I've never done it though... so I don't have much information about that. Last time I went, I paid ~$230 for a room for two nights, 2 catalina express tickets, and 2 "tours" (i.e. one for each person). This was towards the end of September and off-season prices, though. I stayed at a place called La Paloma. Not the glitziest place, but I didn't go to stay in the room anyway.

Catalina Express leaves from Long Beach, Newport, and Dana Point at about.... um... every hour or so (~9am-7pm). The trip takes about 45 minutes.

if you have to schedule it on labor day, then too bad :p i intend to go once the off season starts :)

Yep, there have been several catalina threads already. I just got a package deal off of Catalina and it worked out pretty good. Spent a lil much for high school studnets though. :(

Oh, and everything is easier if you're 18. I couldn't even rent a kayak without some fast talking... :) I don't think the lady that sold us the package knew we were under 18.

Expect to spend a lot on food. Yumm...
