I caught this news earlier when I was watching Greta. I saw Dulles on the news and got a little alerted as I live a bit close to that airport. However, when I saw that it was Cat Stevens who was on the "list" I laughed.

Glad they're sending him back out of the U.S. on Wednesday.

OK.. What was his crime?

I think the DoJ would probably cite his music catalog. ;)
Yeah we all know what good taste Herr Asscroft has in music

So you think he's he's a Nazi too?
No, just an Authoritarian.
Doesn't he have himself anointed with oil, think dance is the devil, and freak when he sees black cats, and lose an election to a dead man? I think if he were merely a Nazi nobody few would even blink.
LOL sounds like you've seen Hellboy:)

He was deported from Israel in 2000 for funneling money to terrorist organizations (Hamas).
Do you have a link proving this???

Bwuahahahahahaha!! No kidding.

His crime was donating to Muslim Charities.

Anyway, anyone who sang "Peace Train" is obviously not the sort of person we want in this country.

They don't let me out of my cell much. I'll have to Google Hellboy. :D

Hehe Edit: Plot Outline: A demon, raised from infancy after being conjured by and rescued from the Nazis, grows up to become a defender against the forces of darkness.

Probably Grandpa Bush's money paid for the 'conjur' research. Oh sorry, conjur.

Cat, what a waste.

One of the greatest singer/songwriters ever imo.

Rubylove is one of my favorites. Short and sweet.

Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia have some really strict entrance standards for Americans.. you need to be sponsored, etc.. Do you complain about that?

Meanwhile we had "visa express" so that Saudi citizens didn't even have to show up for an interview to get a visa to the US. I'm so glad none of the 911 terrorist came from Saudi Arabia.

An obvious target for congressional hearings and public outcry, Visa Express allows residents of Saudi Arabia, including non-Saudi citizens, to apply for non-immigrant visas at private travel agencies. After submitting the short form and photo to a travel agent, applicants simply wait to receive a visa in the mail. Sure, the consulates review the applications once received from the travel agencies, but aside from the question of fraud, our field officers in consulates lose an opportunity to weed out shady characters who appear fine on paper. Most Saudi applicants never come into direct contact with a U.S. citizen until stepping off the airplane onto American soil.

One senior CA official describes the program as "an open-door policy for terrorists." Three of the 9/11 hijackers entered the U.S. through Visa Express, even though the program had only been in place for three months at that point ? and that's not the only reason the program raises alarm. Take a sample month: The U.S. consulate in Jeddah interviewed only two of 104 applicants, rejecting none. The month in question? The first 30 days after 9/11.

Islam has made a number of trips to the United States in recent years, including one in May for a charity event and to promote a DVD of his 1976 MajiKat tour. He donated half the royalties from his most recent boxed set to the Sept. 11 Fund to help victims of the attacks.

Islam founded Islamia Primary school in London in 1983. In 1998, it became the first Muslim school in Britain to receive government support, on the same basis as Christian and other sectarian schools.

They had info that he had associations with potential terrorists. By that standard, I could be jailed. (If you knew my two boys, you'd understand.)

This deportation will probably earn them some well-earned scorn from many conservatives and libertarians, to say nothing of those Commie Democrats who frequent forums like this one. :)

I agree, such a waste. He was always groping around for a religion. Remember Buddah and the chocolate box? Then rumors of him dying due to TB and he looked like a stick? Probably was drugs all along. One of my favorites was Bitter Blue. Way back then listening to almost all of his songs, they were about God or religious undertones. He was always searching for the perfect light, sad the decision he made.

Terrorist Cat Stevens:

Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the world

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's recreation of the new day

No wonder he is anathema to the neocons :p

I think that he wrote that song about 30 years ago.

Has he produced any music in the last decade or so?

Found the answer to my own question.

"He abandoned his music career in the late 1970s and changed his name after being persuaded by orthodox Muslim teachers that his lifestyle was forbidden by Islamic law."

Cat Stevens has given money to Hamas, a terrorist organization. Also, he has - on record - supported the fatwa (Islamic death sentence issued by mullah) against Indian Muslim writer Salman Rushdie for writing a book critical of Islam. Salman Rushdie has since fled London and taken refuge in New York.

Those two things are not just two small little things on the checklist of "Potential troublemaker". They are two very large red flags. Cat Stevens has no business being in the U.S. He is an accessory terrorist and a very sick Islamic fanatic.

He has been in the studio recently in the 90's
Him Elton and a bunch of other artists compiled a CD and sent all the proceeds the 9/11 families fund.
Such a terrorist .....

At least he has the sole claim of being the only terrorist with at least two gold albums!

You call that a music career?

If he's opposed to terrorism but supports terrorists, it doesn't say much for his intelligence or judgement.
