I think it's only right - for the safety of other cats, of course - that you conduct an experiment to determine the possibilities. I would set it up as follows:

- Buy 6 or 7 more cats
- Place all but one (the control) in freezers set to different temperatures
- Vary the temperatures by about 10 degrees, starting at 0 degrees Farenheight and going down from there
- Leave cats in said conditions for at least a week (make sure to feed them; watering them will be decidedly more difficult)
- Take note of which ones survive
- If all die, buy 6 or 7 more and start at about 30 degrees Farenheight and repeat the experiment
- If all die again, repeat with temperatures starting at 50 degrees

I know what you're saying to yourself: If they all die at 0, -10, and -20 before, why would I put them in those temperatures again? The answer is simple: you need to double-check the accuracy of your original results, and you also have to remember that they're just cats and are completely expendable.

Cats are pretty resilliant. Many ferral cats survive through bitter winter days. However, if you are planning to put your cat outside in the winter, it may be illegal animal cruelty if you don't give it enough food, water, and shelter. Just keep it inside.

Animal cruelty? It's an animal! Someone go tell all those snow leopards and lynxes that they're breaking the law.

My cat is a habitual criminal. She runs outside despite my best footwork to keep her inside. She does this regardless of weather. -15 F outside and she still tries to get outside for some stupid reason.

I have a himalayan too. They shed, but their fur is so thick and so fine that the fur forms clumps rather than falling to the ground. Thus you have to brush it throughly every other day or so (and the brush takes care of any shedding problems). If you don't, you can cut out the clumps.

Sure some fur falls out, so I have to vacuum once a week, but that is true with any animal.

It has a think fur of coat. How cold can this breed of cat endure?
I'm just guessing here, but judging from the name of the cat, I'd bet pretty cold. If I was to doubt myself I might look at the cat's coat, a quick check indeed confirms that these are cold climate cats. :p

That cat can likely survive an any weather you would, so how cold are we talking here?

LMAO @ Ilmater. :D
