True. An older feline may have a tough habit to break. They can be quite stubborn and territorial, especially if it is male. I remember as a kid we had an old tomcat, around 13 or 14 years old. Lived in the same house all those years. We moved just two blocks away and brought that cat with us. It refused to make the move. I'd bring Bootsie to his new digs, and he would refuse to stay in the house. We'd get calls from the family that bought our old house that our cat was terrorizing their lil' mongrel, and scratching at the windows trying to get in to "his" house. One night, after about two months passed, old Bootsie showed up at the side door looking for a meal. We fed him, he took off into the night again, and that was the last I ever saw of him. 🙁
On the other hand, my current cat has moved with me and the family four times. Cross country moves, too, involving airplanes and such. Each time, she made the move like it was nothing. After maybe two days in the new house, she was out roaming the new 'hood, kicking some serious booty.
Moral of the story: err on the side of caution and keep an eye on the cat. He'll let you know how well he's adjusting to the move.
