What did they treat you with? I was under a ton of stress in 2006. That's when I got my first eye infection and also when I had an insane girlfriend who loved her cat. Since then I've had about 12 eye infections and one really really bad one right now. I almost went to the ER it was so bad the other night. I only made it through the night because I had some Vicodin from a long time ago in my fridge.
I'm so sick of idiots on the internets misinterpreting science. The disease can be transmitted from some outdoor cats and rats in some areas of the world, it's true all right. But do you lick your cats butt? Or stick your fingers in your cats butt then lick them clean? No? Huh. Well, do you drink and bathe in dirty water contaminated with with the parasite on a regular basis? You do! Well, I think we found an answer. And all you have to do to avoid this is use a broad spectrum dewormer on your cats and keep them inside. Chances are, if you are rat free inside, this problem will never be an issue, at all.
Toxoplasma can be spread through the consumption of raw or undercooked meat of an intermediate host, (animals such as sheep, rabbits, etc.), or contact with feces from infected cats, the definitive host. According to The Toxoplasma oocysts shed in cat feces are extremely hardy, and can survive outside of an intermediate host for an entire year. These oocysts can exist in cat litter boxes, get onto grass, can contaminate water systems, and can even survive on vegetables in gardens that grow near cat feces. The hardiness of the oocysts, paired with the great number of intermediate hosts is part of the reason why Toxoplasma is such a successful parasite, and helps to explain the prevalence of Toxoplasma in humans.
LURKER!
Mine.
The article is a couple of years old. I've heard of the parasites that control ants but not ones that control rodents and can infect humans.

Cats are gross, dogs are gross, kids are gross, girls are gross...
I guess ATOT really is full of basement dwellers whose only interactions with the outside world are through the internet.

Some people on here should lurk more.
That includes you. Your post is 0/10.
Stay away from French women and microwave your cats and you will have no worries.

Wouldn't be interesting if science discovers that most behavioural/developmental disorders are due to neuro parasites transmitted by animals and insects?
I've been diagnosed with toxoplasmosis. I had an eye infection and went through 4 eye doctors before the last doctor figured it out. I was under a lot of stress when one caught it right away. Been fine for 5 + years since.
Also you might have it and never know it. Up to a third of the world's human population is estimated to carry a Toxoplasma infection.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toxoplasmosis
razib khan estimates that 50% of personality is genetic 25% is environmental and the other 25% is non genetic and non environmental. the last 25% would cover things like toxoplasmosis.
It's not a fucking worm you catard.
