My cat did the same thing pretty much. I found him in the back of a
lumber yard and took him in. He was maybe 2 weeks old give or take
so we had to bottle feed him. Once he got old enough to play he turned into
the devil. My leather computer chair has claw marks in it from him darting across
the room and launching onto it.

We got him into the vet one day and got the whole works done on him, neutered,
front claws declawed and shots. He has calmed down but still is real playful.
Him and our white lab puppy play all the time.

One wierd thing about the cat (Pounce) is he drinks out of the toilet and sink.
Not sure why........anyone know?

maybe the water there was fresher at one point because it' constanty recycled (i.e. flushing, using the sink). He probably sampled it once when his own bowl was a bit stale, and got used to it.

Well my ex-gf has a cat that did the same thing. I'm kinda thinking he picked it up from watching her. Just wasn't sure if this was a common thing.

Get a pet fountain. He doesn't like the water bowl or finds faucets / running water more enticing. You can get a pet fountain for $25 or so.

To the OP, never punish your cat for any reason, basically. No tapping on the head, pushing down on the neck, spray bottles. All of that crap doesn't really work on cats. At best it gets them to stop while you are around (i.e. it will bite others). Being that it is a kitten, though, the other possibility, that the cat will learn to associate you with punishment, is even more likely.

The most effective response I've seen and read about is to say "OW" or similar sternly and then make your hand go limp.

Kittens do tend to bite, it's somewhat normal. Sometimes it can progress into later life if mishandled, though.

Neutering will help somewhat, but not as much as you might think. I would recommend against declawing as I think it is inhumane and entirely unnecessary. I don't think it would help with biting either. Might make it worse - my one cat who was declawed by her former owner tends to overcompensate by digging into things with her rear claws and biting hard.

Personally, I think Female Cats are much nicer. They can be a pain till they are spayed. Ours had a hell of an urge to mate. It was unbelieveable. I understand why there are so many cats in the world. Our cat wanted to mate before she was 6 months old, so we did not even let her outside until she was spayed.

Hey OP, maybe your cat is afraid you'll eat him and he is just trying to eat you first
Linky

;) BTW, are you asian, because apparently you, if you are, you shouldn't own a cat?

my wife's cat is 14 and will still bite the crap out of you if you touch his fat belly. Also try not to bump him with your foot when he is laying on the bed in the middle of the night.

I plan on taking a piss on him.

Also, he drinks from the sink

My cat does not like being touched on the belly either. Usually he will tolerate it for a few seconds, unless he's juiced up on cat-drenaline. But if you don't stop soon he will bite a bit. Thus, I almost never do it because my cat doesn't like it. Call me crazy, I don't like harrassing my cat.

The foot in bed thing is more entertaining. My cats think it is a rodent under the covers and go crazy. Similarly, when making the bed, my cats believe that there is a whole colony of things they have to kill in the bed.

I had another question.......my cat doesn't know how to cover up his crap in the litter box. He trys clawing at the walls and the floor but not the litter. I'm not sure if the litter box is too small or if hes just retarded.

lol. all cats are different i guess. mine rolls over and stretches out when i massage his belly with my foot. And i'm starting to doubt his intelligence because he keeps slipping on the same patch of hardwood at the bottom of the stairs, causing him to tumble into the wall, paws flailing.

you won't believe how much cat hair i have to vacuum up from behind my computer though. He seems to be drawn to bight lights and spinning objects, much like my girlfriend. latter half = joke! :(

Could be a lot of things. Keeping the box clean (scooping once a day or more) might help. Some cats are just not as meticulous as others. My male cat spends a long time making sure he can't smell anything. My other cat just sort of paws for a bit at whatever is in front of her and doesn't care if it smells still.

I have a year old cat that is exactly the same way. He just likes to play that way. I pretty much force him to sit with me when he is doing that to teach him that he doesn't get his way if he does that. But I must say that I get many bite marks and nail scratches all over my hands. One time at work people thought i had gotten into a razor blade fight. Just about as bad.

If he's not hissing or having his hair stand up like he's scared or attacking, then I'd say it relalyis just him playing because he's a kitten. He will settle down with time. All you can do when he bites is just say No! and try bopping him on the nose or something.

Could also try putting some Bitter Apple stuff on your hands. Then when he bites it won't taste good so maybe he'll stop.

Good Luck

This is the best advice. You need to think like your cat and figure out what it would naturally respond to.
<edit> He'll probably just outgrow it, but you can always help him along. </edit>

My cat used to eat the ends off spider plant leaves, but after we coated them with a cayenne pepper/oil mix she stopped that real quick. Also, it's funny to watch your cat shake its head and flick its tongue while backing away from the nasty taste in its mouth.

The "problem" with cats is that they aren't pack animals... Probably one of the reasons why dog lovers hate them. The cat is the alpha, you just have to figure out how to manipulate them.
 You have no idea what you're talking about.

Actually, Scooter, I do: :p
