hi, I have a 10 month old cat, and I have been feeding him whiskas, unfortunately they stopped selling Whiskas where i live (India) and he doesn't eat anything else... what can i do? Is there something i can cook at home that he will like? We are veggies so chicken, fish etc are out of the question... Any suggestions?

Well, cats are carnivores, so I doubt you're going to get it eating veggies. Best just to get it to like a new type of cat food.

Absolutely not.

Just try different brands of cat food, it'll eventually find something it likes... and if not, if it gets hungry enough, it will.

I know mine liked potatoes, carrots, rice and peas. She also like speghetti. She was kinda weird though. She ate mice like crazy too.

A good balanced diet.

Anyway, as the others have stated, just try some different brands of food. You'll eventually find something the cat will eat. Also give dry food a try.

I don't think it's a good idea to feed your cat(or dog) people food.

Based on purely anecdotal evidence, animals that are fed people food do not live nearly as long as those fed a good balanced animal food. Our diet is just too wacky. It's better when each bite is balanced, instead of eating a big glob of carbs(potatos), then maybe the next day it eats some leftover fried chicken loaded with saturated fats...lol

I mean, for example.. how much salt, butter and milk was in the potatos? That sh!t isn't good for them....

heh. A cat has such a small body, fast metabolism and short lifespan that any bad effects from a bad diet will be magnified just that much more... people can get away with it for 20-30 years, a cat cannot.

Just something to perhaps be aware of.

I didn't give her that all the time.

The potatoes were roasted with no butter or anything. The carrots were boiled as were the peas.

She just liked to try stuff once in a while. She hated onions and fish.

You should have seen her eating speghetti, it was hillarious. She was an orange tabby and she died at 15 years old due to kidney problems. She was an outdoor cat in the summer. Otherwise a very healthy, affectionate and playfull cat. She had a temper though, and wouldn't take sh!t from anyone or thing. She was one tough female cat.

seriously though, i recall my cat being very very picky. had to go through about 5 brands of food to find one he'd touch. and every so often, his preferences just changed, so we had to test em all out again.

That is why I suggested it. To think the cat is going to be a fvcking vegetarian is retarded. There were meat products in the sh!t he was feeding him.

Whiskas dry kitten food:
Vegetable protein extracts, cereals, meat and animal derivatives (min. 4% chicken in the chicken kibble, min. 4% turkey in the turkey kibble), fish and fish derivatives, oils and fats, minerals, yeasts.
