We have a new kitten, and right now he uses a regular litter box. Well it's too small, and he likes to kick litter all over the ground. Anyway, we're thinking of getting one of those automatic boxes that cleans itself. Are they even worth it? I've read a few reviews, and it seems pretty split right down the middle on what people think.

If those automatic one's suck, anyone using this? Omega Paw litter box

Oh, and before any wiseasses say it, yes I know cats suck, you hate cats, I'd be better killing the cat. Blah, blah, blah. Go outside.

A friend of mine has one at his place. I think it's a piece of junk. It's noisy and has a tendency to jam, and really doesn't save him that much effort. he still has to carry poop from the litter box to the trash, he just doesn't have to scoop it himself.

My gf had one when I lived in Vegas. It seriously made more of a mess than just scooping the crap up. Always cat litter over the floor and when we had to change those stupid plastic "poop pans" it made an even bigger mess. I wish I had a link to the one we had so you'd stay away from it, but oh well. I am sure there is a nice one out there somewhere. :)

Just get a bigger litter box with a cover over it. We have four cats, so I feel your pain about four fold. We have a main litter box that most of them use, it has a high dome cover over the whole thing with a hole at one end for the cat to come in and out. There is like this little "air filter" hole over the top to keep the smell inside the litter box, but one of our cats doesn't cover his sh!t sometimes and the smell comes all the way downstairs and punches everyone in the face.

PM me if you want some more info or suggestions, GL!

Hmm, the auto one's don't sound that great. I've heard that a few times about them being really loud.

OK, so no automatic. That Omega Paw one looks good. It got great reviews on amazon and other places. Apparently you just roll the box to one side, and all the stuff ends up in this removable cup. Then you just empty the cup.

Looks okay, I'd be skeptical of how well the rolling ****** works. I say just get a regular litter box with a scoop and just put the scoops in plastic grocery bags.

My parents had one. It performed OK, not great but not too bad... but it scared one of the cats so much that it refused to use any liter box in that one room ever again.

I ahve one of the littermate or whatever they are called things. It works pretty well. Problem is it dumps the sh!t into a little container that filles up pretty quickly so you end up having to replace that every couple days. Of course I jsut take it out, dump it out, and then put it back in instead of buying all new things all the time.

It works fine but you still have to top off the litter to make sure it's not too full or too low. I've never tried those "roll around" kind.

Just take the 2 seconds you need everyday to use a scoop to get all of the clumped litter out of the box, then dump it in the trash.

We used to have the covered one but have since opted for the "go outside" method.

He's going to be an inside kitty, so the outside option won't work. I might just give the Omega Paw thing a try. It's only like $25, so if it sucks, I didn't lose much.
