IIRC someone here had a cat that did exactly the same thing, and that user switched to an LCD, and the cat leaped up onto the back of the monitor, only to find the back no longer existed, sending the cat and LCD flying.

Upgrading to an LCD can be quite a suprise to your cat if he is used to jumping onto your CRT. My dad had a crt monitor that the cat would love to jump up on and hang out. Not long after he upgraded to a 17" flat panel, the cat tried to jump up on his monitor. The cat ended up flying over the monitor and almost ended up dragging the brand new flat panel down with him as he fell in the gap between the desk and the wall. Fortunately, both the cat and the LCD survived the incident without a scratch
