He really digs it up there, and is the only real reason I won't upgrade to a flat panel.

Is it dangerous over the long term? Is he irridating himself silly?

He's perfectly fine up there. He's loving the hot air coming through the vents. Personally I wouldn't let a cat determine my upgrades in computer equipment, he'll always be able to find a new place to sit and get warm.

If you want to get a flat panel monitor, do it. Just be sure to get your cat a heated kitty cradle to sleep in next to your computer so he'll stay happy. :)

It's been my experience that cats love to lay down in the most inconvenient place they can find. Reading on your stomach? Cat comes and lays down between your book and your face. Typing? Cat comes and lays down on keyboard. Stupid cat.

This reminds me of this TV ad that the cat keep jumping from one cabinate to the back of monitor to something else, and then she fell when the owner changed it to some sort of LCD screen.

Just one question though, wouldn't it be bad if the cat do her business on top of your heated monitor?

What's his name?

: ) Amanda
It was oskar but we call his dosquero for a latin flair. You can pick him up by his tail, flip him in the air onto your back and play fetch with little fuzzy balls cut off of tennis socks. :)

only thing I'd be concerned about it if it sheds, hair inside that case won't be the best thing for it I'm guessing.

Can't be any worse than the beer and candlewax that preceeded it. :)

Isn't the majority of radiation from the CRT pushed out through the vents in the back? If so I don't think it would be a good place for kitty to sit unless you want a Ravenous Mutant Pussy.

Usually that costs me extra.

Seriously, though, that's why I asked..

Animal got your attention didn't it? I'd reconsider your comment.

ROFL! You almost made me spit out my Coke amnesiac! The only thing I'm worryed about is the cat heair getting into the monitor housing. That's really really bad, cat hair could ignite if it got too hot or shorted out something and then your nice Sony Triniton monitor would be no more . . .

I wouldn't worry about him irradiating himself. Even if he is irradiating himself, it would just make him sterile, and that's probably already been done to him. ;)

IIRC someone here had a cat that did exactly the same thing, and that user switched to an LCD, and the cat leaped up onto the back of the monitor, only to find the back no longer existed, sending the cat and LCD flying.

Didnt someone have a post similar to this but it had their cat sitting on their cable modem?

Anyhow I don't think its a problem having him sit on top of the monitor.
