Cat Lovers: How many strays have you adopted into your home?

Tonight made my 3rd, probably 2 months old, rescued out of a busy parking lot, and totally skin and bones. Just adopted 2 sisters (probably 2 months old also) that got dumped in my neighborhood a few weeks ago. This goes along with the current cat I had that was nearly 5 years, and apparently resistant to feline leukemia, as she'd lived, fought/played with ate/drank after a kitty that we learned later was infected for 2 years and had to be put down (I miss him). Just wondering how many other suckers there are on here 🙂

1 - I let her in just over a year ago. The vet's assistant thought she was a kitten due to her size, but the vet estimated her to be 7 years old. She regained normal mass after a few months of regular meals. She's currently stretched out on my floor.

I've had 3 cats my whole life, and all have been found outside as kittens. My first one was one a back country rd, and I saw her on the side of the road, so I pulled over and grabbed her. The 2 I have now I found on a job site(out in the country). It was a litter of 4, and my buddy took 2, and I took 2. I suspect they were dumped there by some human, because they had no fear of people.

Finding a stray is the only way I'd have a cat. I like finding an animal that's probably setup for a shit life, and giving it a good home :^)

3, a feral cat had kittens on the roof of a building I used to work in. Trapped, fixed, and released her and still have the kittens with me today.

Adopting a cat is pretty much like winning the lottery for them, though they probably won't ever realize it. I get alot back from them, more than I could ever give them, so I'm happy.

I like to keep about 4 at a time. That way I can have a month supply of treats for my dog (once a week only so he doesn't get spoiled).

😉

That's so wrong, you better be kidding, lol

See I was going to say the exact opposite. I always have to keep a dog around for my cats to play with and terrorize or they'd start to come after me.

After I got multiple cats, my original kitty comes after me less....she was just bored, although I still wake up to some to biting from time to time 🙂 I think she's definitely part Siamese, she's way too vocal to not be....Its like a daily bitch-fest when I get home for being gone so long, I swear she's making sentences, or at least trying, lol

We've taken in a few. I think that right now, including the kittens, we have 8 cats. Our new puppy completely terrorizes the kittens - drags them around by their tails, etc.

Anyone want a kitten? They're cute & soft & purry.

Over the years, probably 3 or 4 strays have found their way into our house.

One of our current cats was about 2-3 days old when we got her. Momma was a country-feral cat and had been run over by a car. My daughter brought her home..."Get that thing out of this house!" her mean old daddy yelled. (she was about 17 at the time)
My wife quickly over-ruled me on that...and we had this tiny gray thing...no bigger than a mouse. We got set up to bottle feed the Tiny cat, (became her name) but soon after, our daughter got in more trouble with the law...and ended up "living elswhere" for about 6 months. I got stuck with the duty of caring for the kitten. I had taken a few months off of work to care for my mom who had moved in with us while dying of cancer, so I had the time...I fed her, bathed her...and became her "momma."

Now, she's 13 years old and I'm STILL her momma as far as she's concerned. She sleeps with me, has a bed on my computer desk so she can have a place while I'm here, follows me to the bathroom...and sits on the foot of my recliner when I'm watching tv.
(BTW, "Tiny" weighs in at about 14 lbs now...😀

I used to have strays all the time but I had to give it up. They keep getting killed and I don't know about you guys but I haven't been able to get my cats to stay at home they almost invariably start going out and get killed fighting with other cats or dogs.

I love cats but can't take losing one again 🙁 I have had 3-4 cats and all died before they were 2

All 9 that we currently have have been taken in off the street. All the cats we have had over the years either came off the street or were adopted from rescue groups. Same with our dogs.

2. One was black kitten who was dumped in a sack with 3 others 25 years ago, she lived till 18 yo and was called lucky. The other just was called Tomas, a skinning stray who just followed me home one day about 10 years ago and never left. Enjoyed actually hugging you because his life was so much better than it was...
