I just moved in and my roommate has two other cats. One is a kitten and the other is a cat. My cats have always managed to go in the litter box, but now they won't =(

They pee in my room and the litter box is outside, any ideas on how to remedy this? they've pissed in my room 2x now (I have two cats). I don't want to put the litter box in my room =(

The other cats in the house probably have something to do with this. They're very territorial creatures, and if they feel threatened by the other cats, or if the litter box is shared between all the cats, or if the box is in territory that is under the dominion of the other cats, they will piss on your clothes or rug.

Are these cats fixed? it looks like territorial behavior. Most likely they see your cats as intruders and are trying to claim your room as theirs. Best bet is to give them time to see if the cats take to one another, which would abate the issue. If they dont end up liking each other, you'll need to find a way to keep them from entering your room

*edit*
I ended up reiterating much of what BatmanNate said in my original post. I'd strongly encourage all the cats in the house to be spayed/neutered if they arent already.

We need pics of all 4 cats to make a proper assessment. Seriously, put the litter box in the room for a few days and then move it.

They can give cats a shot at the vet that cures this behavior. It works, 100% of the time...

yep.

Problem is once the smell is in the carpet (and you can't ever get rid of it) they will continueally do it unless their litter is kept clean.

Give the cat to the Animal Shelter,
somebody else can try to train the cat.

Cat pisses on your belongings
You piss on cat
Cat pisses elsewhere, preferably on other cats

Problem solved
