Cat Cafe

The cafe is called Neko no Jikan or "Cat Time" in English. The 20 cats that work here have free range of the place, sitting and sleeping wherever they like.

The cafe consists of two large rooms. There is the cafe area, which is exactly what it sounds like. There are couches and small tables where you can sip a cup of coffee while a cat sleeps on your lap or at your feet. It is a cozy space with soft lighting and classical music playing quietly in the background.

The other room, attached to the cafe, is best described as a cat playroom. No drinks are allowed in this room. You can play with the cats or just sit on one of the many couches and watch all of the four-legged loving go down.

I had never heard of cat cafes before coming to Japan and I'm surprised the trend hasn't caught on in the rest of the world. Cat cafes are a great idea, especially for people whose landlords won't allow pets in their buildings. Or for people who can't have a cat because they live with an allergic partner.

They have these kinds of things all over Jappoland. Cats, dogs, you name it...

i've been to a cat cafe in ikebukuro before. it was ok, i guess. i fucking hate cats, but it was fun trying to grab one and make it squeel while the girlfriend got embarrassed. i love being a gaijin :) as far as i know, there are no dog cafes quite like cat cafes. however, there are dog rental places....

The next time you attempt to grab a cat with the intention of making it squeal, I hope it takes your eyes. :)

Yup, I went to one at the top of a Tokyu Hands store with a friend last year. When we told the girl we were a couple to save the few bucks her eyes got really wide it was pretty funny.

There were absolutely no guys there and like 8 girls just going crazy and looking so happy with the cats. It was kinda weird but interesting.

Sounds like a great place to meet people.

If you pick up a girl there you will at least be sure that she likes pussy too :D

Actually for most guys here the chance of a chick getting some before them is pretty normal. Even if that chick is diehard straight.

Are they also providing pet daycare? so they charge the people who drop off their cat for the day and also charge the weird people paying to pet other people's cat?

don't forget the tuna snacks they sell to feed the cats. Kind of reminds me of the zoo in China where you could pay to feed the animals, what profits....
