NP man. I have them installed now, I'm going to test them over the course of the evening. I'll have to watch Hero first, though.

I only just downloaded the 4.8's 2-3 days ago and that CCC gave me headaches.

ATI needs slapped... although its always good to see software updates.

Elcs, you don't need to use the CCC. I downloaded the package with the traditional control panel, it's only half the size of the driver set with the CCC in it.

PrayForDeath, perhaps you can get a buddy with cable/dsl to download this file and other things for you and burn it all to a CD?

Well, I am currently downloading, it's gonna take +90 minutes, but I am leaving it on until it finishes.
Thanks for the advice anyway :)

Is it a good idea to use "Catalyst Control Center"? Is it worth having another background program?

And please list all of the games that no longer work with the new 4.9's so everyone can be aware. Not being funny here. Just a heads up for ATI'ers

sweet. hope this gives me more performance out of my radeon9800 pro. the switch from 4.7 to 4.8 gave me like 200 points in 3dmark03. maybe i'll reach 6k w/ my rig after all.

maybe it's my antivirus that could be hindering my system? i doubt it. i don't know. once i get my VGA silencer, i'm gonna flash to XT bios and overclock to XT speeds. then we'll see some real scores =)

as for the cat 4.9, my score is 5913. my 4.8 score was like 5947. still not 6k yet =( maybe 5.0 will do the trick?

Tomorrow I'll fire up games other than Doom 3 and see how they go. I'm thinking especially of KOTOR. I'd love to get smooth FPS at high resolution and IQ settings in that game.

That Resource Hog - DeuSex, Invisible War - needs all the "help" it can get - even with the patch . . . i am d/l'ing overnight and will install and report back tomorrow.

BTW, IF you installed the .NET frame from M$, there is a PATCH (not incorporated into the original .net d/l last week). . . . mine ran buggy till i got it. ;)

I'm still using the older style control panel. I'm not comfortable with the new one yet. I'll wait for a few more revisions before I jump in.
