News flash Gonad the Barbarian: nVidia has more bugs in Farcry than ATi does.

The demo is based on old code, and AA works fine in the second beta. UBi recommends using 3.9's for the demo, as thats what they tested it with. The retail game will more than likely work fine, because as I said, it works fine in the second beta.

Good try though.

like the lighting problems you posted about on the other board? it actually doesn't do that for me.. tho i'm using 53.03, you stated this has been an issue since 52.16.

a problem i do notice is the certain rock textures change rather ubruptly when taking 1 step forward from certain angles, however that happens to me on both the ati and nv cards.

good try tho ;)

It sounds like to me that we're going to need a way to load certain driver versions depending on what game we play. I play a slew of games and no one version is bug free for all my games. :(

:Q Why can't we all just get along!

Wow look at that, the lighting problem in another game.

I said it started with the 52.16 drivers, never said it started with Farcry and the 52.16 drivers. It happens with other games and the 52.16 drivers, I havent tried them and Farcry to see. It did happen in NFS:U with them though.

Edit, I just tried my second beta of Farcry to see if it did it, because to be honest I dont remember it doing in it. But when I start the game.. I just get a black screen. Ill play around with settings and drivers to see if I can get it to work and see if it does it in the beta. I dont think it did.. but I didnt play much on the FX based system.

Ok, so I never could get the beta to work with the 56.56 drivers. It just loaded up to a blank screen, and I could hear sounds. My monitor went off when the game was loaded up... go back to desktop and it came back on. Installed the 52.16 drivers, and now in the demo the front rocks dont have that lighting problem, but there are some far off that do, when they didnt before. Strange.

The trees looked normal though on the 52.16 drivers, where on the 56.56 they look horrible. Ill try the 53.03's later. I wont be home the rest of the day.. it will be really late (or really early depending on how you look at it..) when I get back to try.

well, it seems to me these look are driver specific issues.

ati plain does ps2.0 shaders better than nvidia, but they also have many documented "game specific" issues, arguably more so than nvidia drivers. the strange thing tho is that, for instance cat 4.3 has known issues with FarCry:
This issue affects the following configurations:

CATALYST 4.3
Radeon Series Product
Far Cry Demo
Upon launching Far Cry, some textures may be missing in-game.
ATI Engineering is aware of the issue and is investigating.
This issue is under investigation. There is no solution available at this time.

INFO-BASE file # 4465

yet no one bitched about this for instance when "pointing out" nvidia problems (tho personally i have not noticed this issue w/ cat 4.3 or 4.2).

my point tho isn't to defend or condemn either product, rather to point out the reality that these issues come up for both nv and ati regardless of whose camp you want to stick up for. if you criticize one, you should be fair and criticize the other as well.

Anyone having performance issues in NFSU with these new cats?

NFSU definately seems slower with the 4.3's than with the 4.2's.
