Should I install these drivers? And how exactly should I go about uninstalling the previous version? I'm running a 9700 Pro.

Do you have any issues with current software you run?
If eerythign is fine, there isn't all that much point in upgrading drivers.

yes, drivers fix problems wthat will occur in certain circumstances, and will provide a nice performance boost in many types of 3D applications, they will also sometimes give you a image quality improvement.

How should I go about uninstalling the previous version? Uninstall in Control Panel, then remove all entries in registry?

That's what I do. Plus I delete the ATI folder that the previous driver install creates. BTW the 3.4's acted up on me, so I removed them and installed Omegadrive's 3.4 drivers. They are working great.

That's what bothers me - I haven't heard anything good about these drivers.

I can't say if there is a speed increase, as 3.4 was the first drivers I ever installed for my Radeon 9700 Pro, however while running with these drivers there ARE serious framerate issues under Half-Life. The 9700 Pro seems to produce framerates of 50-60 most often, 70-80 more rarely, and 100 in isolated circumstances. While playing Natural-Selection, while commanding, the speed dropped to 20FPS.

System is an AthlonXP 1900+. Previous card, GeForce 3 original, produced much higher framerates at the same resolutions and settings.

i have the 8500DV and installed these new drivers last week.. everything worked fine except for the TV feature.. it would totally bog down my system when i have the Tv running.. when i turn it off, it is back to normal again... i couldn't find a way to fix it so i just went back to the last drivers...
