Cassette to Computer

I would like to record a sound track from a cassette to my computer.
How do I do this?
What equipment and software do I need?
Would it sound much better than recording from my FM stereo (Which has a great reception)?
Does the quality of my sound affect my recording?

I did a search for both terms and came up empty, so the advice was not good, It has been posted on here a lot but many pages back. You can use windows recorder but the results leave a little to be desired. Get a copy of Goldwave it is cheap and works good. Also try nonags there are some free audio editors there.

Not so "RealJukebox" will do what you want. Hopefully you have this already. Open it up and go to Tools/Record from Mic/Line in. Musicmatch also has the same thing. You might have to buy up to use theirs, I forget. Real is free.

Now you'll need a special wire or connector, it'll have to (L&R) male plugs at one end, hook this up to your cassete player outputs, or speakers. The other end of this wire should be a 8mm stero plug. Plug this end into the back of your pc, should be between the mic and spkrs.

I would suggest recording one song at a time to avoid having to use an editor to cut it up.

8mm? I think you mean adapter with 1/8" stereo mini plug to dual RCA plugs. 8mm = .3" (kind of big for sound card)

Is it now.......my ruler says that 8mm is approx 1/3 inch. "the 9mm uzi!"

I recorded from my Record deck onto MP3 just using a simple cable from a scart lead and the line in on my old sb live value.

8mm is ~.315", 1/3" is ~.333", 9mm will make your sound card not work any more.

ok, ok. 8mm, 1/8 inch, 8 feet, 8 miles, 8days 8 weeks, 8 months or 8 8's? There is only one that is going to go in that tinyhole in the back of the box that makes your moniter go. You can try 8mm, 1/8 in or a baseball bat. chances are, unless you press real hard, the bat isn't going to go in.
