Are these good quality? Are the retail prices to be trusted? Great deal if so...

If you need to ask whether a cashmere sweater from Macys for $13.50
is a good deal, then it is not a good deal for you...

No, these are not comparable to the HEAVY cashmere sweaters you
can buy for $400 and up...These are low-end cashere sweaters. But
they are Macy's store brand, so the prices listed are basically
realistic rack prices. They look nice, they feel very nice. But
they will be kind of thin, and will probably run short (entry
level cashmere sweaters almost always run short as a way to
save money on the expensive material...).

There's nothing like a top end cashmere sweater. But for $13.50?
Man, these are a STEAL..

Just wish these were for men! But my wife will like her present...

saphyrestar, THANK YOU! ;)

Great Post! This is an excellent pre-valentine gift (hopefully it will still be cold by then :p).

i actually was able to pick up two cashmere sweaters last week from this sale... like KwadGuy says, even if it's not the best, it's still cheaper than you could get for anything comparable.

I purchased one of these for my mom for christams full price :( The Cable knit sweater are much thicker and worth the extra few dollars, she will be surprised to get a couple more just because, purchased 5 of these bad boys various type cardigan, cable knit and the cheap 13.50 ones and still spent much less than I did at christmas time.

This is a steal. Even very thin cashmere is very warm and cozy - I for one prefer pretty thin cashmere sweaters for their versatility. Too bad I am not a woman (that is the FIRST time I have said that, ever!).

Thanks so much. My wife's birthday is coming up, and I ordered one of these for her. Great deal! Plus, I passed this information to several cow-orkers around me and they are all buying stuff for their wives too. :)

Keep 'em coming!

Thanks for the heads up! I can't believe they went so fast. I placed an order about an hour ago. What an awesome deal!

Edit: I hope they come! I remember reading horror stories about people placing orders with Macys.com only to have part or all of their order floating in backorder hell or cancelled :(

<< Cashmere sweaters for men? :D >>

yup, there certainly are cashmere sweaters for men (although I prefer the thinner ones. Almost like long sleeve shirts). However, usually cashmere sweaters are so expensive, I have to settle for Merino Wool. :( Great find. Too bad it's for women though.

<< I've never even tried on cashmere sweaters before...

How does merino wool or alpaca compare to cashmere?
>>

Cashmere is the softest I've ever felt (at least the well made ones are. There is such thing as $#!TTY cashmere). Merino wool is not as soft but is definitely softer than regular wool or cotton. I've never felt alpaca.

I must agree cashmere is nice. However I can't justify spending that much for more to make it my wardrobe. ;)
