Casette player problems

Hey Guys,
i know its hilarious to see a tape deck around, but i have mine because i run my casette adapter through it because of my MP3 player. I have had the clean light on for a while now, so decided to get a head cleaner, and get rid of the light. Well after i ran it, and put my adapter back in, the sound was terrible, i mean NO sound, unless you put the volume alll the way up on BOTH the deck and MP3 player, then you could hear something, Before i had it on half volume on the player, and half on deck and sound was great. I have returned and gotten atleast 3 adapters today, and they all seem to not work. Regular casettes work flawlessly in the deck, the radio and everything else works fine, what do you guys think the problem is ?
 
ok i tried it again, it wont switch, if i try, its runs back to side A and so far, sound quality isnt that good still to what it was.
i try messing with the adapter inside and it gets a bit better, if i balance and fade it out, the right sounds higher than the left F/R
i think im going to try one last adapter, probably a more expensive one or so.

Try a new tape adapter. If it's working fine with a real cassette, then there's nothing wrong with the player. It's possible that the adapter has jammed in one direction, which is why it's refusing to switch sides of the tape.

I've had similar problems with a cassette adapter and for me it has always been that the player is trying to play the wrong "side" of the adapter. That doesn't mean it's not something different in your case, but that has been the most common issue in my limited experience.
