Cases that cool the GPU(s)?

Another thread got me wondering about this. In a high end gaming system the single hottest subsystem is the graphics cards. The power draw for a single X1900XTX is supposed to be in the region of 150W at full load. A crossfire system is going to be even worse. As for the more efficent Nvida option, the 7900GTX is supposed to be drawing over 100W too.

In short, with an AMD based high end gaming system the majority of the heat generated will be around the graphics cards. Even a couple of 120mm low RPM fans exhausting air over where the graphics cards are located would make a massive difference to airflow and thus temps. Why haven't i seen any cases with it? Or am i just not looking hard enough.

I've got my airflow sorted thanks, but while i've seen cases like the P180 that are designed to help case temps by seperating the components i can't think of a single one that pays much attention to the graphics cards.

Any case that has a second or very large side opening is attempting vidcard cooling, the above is just an extreme example...

No, there's no exhaust point for the GPUs, the hot air will still tend to pool around the graphics cards. The ginat sod off hole might help by allowing more air in, but it's not to help the graphics cards in particular.

The case that I have (Lian Li PC-7b Plus) is described in the manual as having an option part that you put in the case that is designed to increase air flow in the card area. I see the holes on my case, but im not really sure about the part. I think it just blows air out the back. You might want to look into this, sounds like exactly what you're talking about.

The Lian-Li PC60s have the same thing as well, there is a side blowhole that sucks air in from the PCI area and forces it out the back of the case. Problem solved.
🙂

Edit
The PC-60s COME with this exhaust/blowhole. I'd send you mind but I need it to cool my RAM 🙁
