I am currently in the middle of arranging a contest.
I havent gotten the full approval yet, but most of it is a go.

I am thinking of holding a competition for our members.
Each month or bimonthly, where 1 rig will be selected on votes.

I will probably collect rigs for 2 weeks from members, and then they can vote the last 2 months.

As for the prize.. nothing big... mostly bragging rights. :p

I will probably make a sticky post called the winner circle, where your rig will be added onto it. This thread will be locked so only winners will be shown.

Also i am going to limit the sponsored machines to only 1 machine PER year.

Meaning if its a sponsored build, like nvidia, or CES build, you can only enter that class machine once per year. (lets make this fair for others).

So get your high quality camera's out.
Start dusting off your computer, or do a rebuild.

Lets have fun with a bit of competition.

Most likely members will vote heavily on aesthetics, over performance, so everyone is welcomed.

Let me hear your feedback, and how i should regulate this kind of contest.
Things are still in the air, and i would like to make it fun for everyone.

The only rule i think i will hold, is it must be a bootable machine.
Meaning it must boot into windows, and you must be able to at least pull a cpu-z.

A build thread required? nothing elaborate but at least a few pics with a little info about what the initial goal was and how it worked out in the end? I can appreciate the build of hobbyist much more than a pro to be honest. Remember daw last year? The stuff that kid had to go through,,,,, someone also had a case blow off the deck.
I like the thought processes involved, why a drive is placed here and not there, what research or testing was done to get the final product. Legoman explained his decisions, if someone else wanted to build similar they would have his experience to build on. Reading threads like his are how I learned to build myself.

well i was thinking of limiting it to like 3 pictures.

The winner can post more if he likes, or do a build log picture.

I havent thought about how to handle the winners which is why i ask for feedback.

I want this to be fun, i also hope to generate more traffic and make this section better.

I can only do this with feedback from you guys.

So start shouting out things in your heads.

How long are you planning on running it? My box won't be done for a while, but I'd like to enter eventually.

Sounds like a good idea...

Might consider having submissions PM's to you with a limit of 3 pics -

1) Outside with panels on (any side but to see the craftsmanship on the outside)
2) Straight side view with panel off (to see overall layout of the desing)
3) Submitter's Choice (submitter can take a pic of any part of the build they want)

PM'd submissions would cut down on crazy forum clutter, setup a Folder and require submissions to start with a keyword ("ModBox" for instance).

At the end of 2 weeks you can create 1 thread with Poll. Use the Spoiler tags to break down each submitter's section so things don't look totally cluttered - This will also allow viewers to only open the ones they want to compare after looking at everything. For instance, out of 10 submissions I am having a hard time deciding between two... without the Spoiler tags I'd have to scroll through 20 or so images to get to the ones I want to compare, with spoiler tags I can expand only the 2 that I want to compare.

Hopefully that was the kind of feedback you were looking for :)
