So the comp in my sig is running at 49C idle right now and I have no idea why. Ok it's 90+ degrees (F) today but i doubt it should be going that high. I cleaned out the heatsink for dust a week or two ago and I cleaned out the dust filter for the case yesterday. The heatsink is properly placed, I've checked. The fan is blowing on the heatsink and all the fans are working. I doubt this is the doing of the ambient temperature alone. Any tips guys? Thanks.

Having the same problem. Case temp says its 47. That seems high. CPU running at 53 idle. This is not right. Something is up.

It's in my signature, its a Thermalright SLK-900A, normally it should be in the mid 30's idle.

Ambient temp can have a huge impact on temps. My P4 idles between 42C and 52C depending on the temp of the room (69F to 83F). I wouldn't expect mid 30s during the summer.

If the top of your case feels warm, it might be your case not cooling well. Gotta have a fairly cool case to keep that cpu HSF working well. You could pull one of the top drive bay covers off, if one is empty, so see if better air flow helps.
