Case recommendation?

Currently looking at a new case since I think my current one caused my video card to overheat and completely destroyed it. Right now I have the Ultra Dragon series case and from what a friend of mine has told me, it lead to two of his video cards burning out also. So even if the case is good enough, I don't want to take a chance.

For this reason I'm looking at migrating my existing hardware to a new chassis and was wondering if anyone on this board had any suggestions of what I should be looking at. At the moment I've been eyeing the Antec Twelve Hundred and the Cooler Master Stacker 830. My only problem is that I've heard that these cases (due to having a lot of fans) are both noisy and dust magnets requiring frequent cleaning. This is something I'd like to avoid since I've read that some people have to clean their case as often as every 3 weeks. I don't do any overclocking so heat shouldn't be a huge issue, despite it apparenlty being one in the case I have now, and I definitely don't want to blow the bank either.

If I had to sum up my key buying features they would be:

- Efficient design balancing cooling, airflow, and noise
- Cost. Cheaper is better but I'll spend more on something that's worth the extra money
- Low maintenance. I usually only clean my case once every 6 months (is this something that needs to be remedied?)
- Space. Right now I have 6 hard drives in my setup and I'm looking at adding a 7th so 3.5" space is important.

Sorry about that, here are my rig specs:

- Intel C2D E6600 (non-OC)
- Asus P5W DH Deluxe
- 6 hard drives made by Seagate and WD
- 2 x OCZ Platinum XTC OCZ2P8001G PC2-6400 DDR2
- Sapphire X1900XT (non-OC and I think it's completely fried now)
- OCZ GamerXtreme 600W PSU (OCZGXS600)
- Soundblaster Audigy 2 GameXtreme

Also, as of now I'm looking at the Cooler Master 690 also, my only problem with it is that it looks very similar in layout to my current case and it only has 5 slots for additional hard drives. I currently have 6 in my case and am looking at adding a 7th so I need room for them all. With the tool-less installation, can I even use 5.25 - 3.5" conversion kits to put my extra drives in 5.25" drive bays?

See the current thread about building a NAS box. The Rosewill Conqueror I suggested there might work for you as well.

dont think it will meet his budget catigory tho. :X

Would also be his most expensive case he's ever seen. 😛

I suggest the Antec 300. It has six internal HD bays, plenty of room for cooling fans, nothing should overheat in those cases. It's the case that I chose for my overclocked Q6600 quad-core rigs, that I'm in the process of assembling.
