Case Recommendation Please!

I'm looking to build a pc in the next couple of months, but I don't have a clue about pc case size (there doesn't really seem to be a standard system that is widely used as far as I can tell).

Basically I want a pc case that is as small as possible because I am at university and spend a fair amount of time swapping between uni and home via train etc - so ease of transport is pretty important.

I haven't 100% decided exactly what components I want, but it will only have 1 HDD and 1 GPU (probably a 970). Whats the smallest board and therefore case I can get away with here?

Thanks for any help.

Look at something mITX. Just make sure the case will fit whatever video card you choose.

Some also have built in handles on the top such as the Corsair 380T.

There are standards, if there wern't then you wouldn't have had a choice, you would have needed to buy the pc pre built. Search youtube for smallest pc builds.

The NCase M1 might be what you're looking for, it's really small. But there are some downsides, namely (1) the price and (2) it's aluminum so you can't stick a magnetic dust filter over the GPU intake. It does come with dust filters to put on the case fans though.

For small cases the BitFenix Mini-ITX is also a really good choice, you should check it out. Personally I use the Antec P280 which I love, but it's not small.

Given your size parameters, I would pick your case, and then choose parts that will fit in the case. The NCase looks like about the smallest traditional tower case (I'm considering it for my next build.)

How do you expect to carry this PC? Backpack, case, etc?

Are you sure a laptop wouldn't be a better choice?
