Hello. I need some opinions on a case I'm thinking of purchasing for an Athlon 1.4 GHz @ 1.4 GHz T-bird rig I'm going to build. There's not a lot of reviews for cheaper cases out there, and I don't think I need an expensive Lian-Li or Cooler Master. So, while searching around I happened upon the case used by Alienware for a fairly good price (I think). Here's the specs on it and links to some pictures; I need to know whether it would be safe to assume that this case would work well for my future system.

ATX mid-tower - Model Hydraulic SF860B

Features: Sliding front panel that automatically slides down by a push of a button on the top of the case. Elegant outlook. Sufficient inner space. Two removable side-covers. Screwless snap-on front panel. Removable M/B plate. Removable and screwless 3.5 drive frame. Replaceable I/O shield panels. Power LED with work/sleep mode. Three 5.25" and two 3.5" external drive bays. Two internal 3.5" drive bays. Seven expansion slots. Dimensions: 17.25x7.25x19.25" (LxWxH), 438x184x489mm. Made of steel. Power and reset switches. Power and hard drive light indicators. Patents pending on the hydraulic design. The front bezels for the black and beige colors are the same as shown above. A black system is great to match furniture, television (TV), and entertainment center such as Sony, JVC, Pioneer, Panasonic, and AIWA. Standard power supply: PowerMan, KME, or ToPower 250W, 4 IDE and 2 floppy drive connectors. Upgrades are optional. Two optional case fans: 8x8cm in the front and 6x6cm in the back.

Compatibility: Almost all standard ATX motherboards should fit in this case including Athlon motherboards from FIC, Abit, EPoX, BioStar and Asus although this case itself is not Athlon approved. If you have a motherboard with an onboard network adapter, you must use the I/O shield that came with your motherboard since cases normally do not come with such special I/O back plates.

I can get the case with a 300W (will that be enough?) power supply, an 8cm front fan, and a 6cm rear fan (all generic) for $70.98. I don't know if I should go with the generic brand of everything or not though, does it make much of a difference? Here are the prices of the fan and power supply options; I want to keep it as cheap as I can, but I don't want to risk having any cooling problems and don't want it to be real noisy.

Accessories Prices:

Power Supply -

300 Watt Generic ($14.00)
300 Watt Athlon ($28.00)
300 Watt Antec ($38.00)
400 Watt Antec ($70.00)

Front Fan (8cm) -

Generic ( $7.99)
Cooler Master ( $9.99)
Silencer ($12.00)
Enermax T-sensing ($14.00)

Rear Fan (6cm) -

Generic ( $5.99)
GlobalWin ($17.00)
Quiet Panaflo ($17.00)

I can also leave any of these out and buy them somewhere else, any recommendations?

Any info and opinions you can share will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

I hate those damn cases. Look how small the exhaust fan hole is. Plus its so restrictive. Do yourself a favor look into Antec cases they are a great case for value amount of fans appearence the hole deal. An Antec 830 or 1030 is way better then that case. The price is only about 20 more for the 830 with a 300 watt psu. It also comes with 2 fans and has room for 3 more.

I have one and modded it attaching two rear 16.1 db Adda's to the back.. but if you care about cooling I'd suggest the Antec 830 but then again they are more expensive..
