Case Modification Questions?

My questions are:

Has anyone attempted taking the front panels off of their CD-RW, DVD-ROM, Floppy drives in order to paint them? Is it hard to do?

The reason I'm asking is that I've just completed painting my S10 pickup bright fire engine red with white and blue flames(I restore and trick up cars as a hobby). I've got extra paint leftover and since I'm now going to build myself a new PC, I thought it would be cool to buy a new case and paint it like I did my S10(I know what your thinking, what's this car buff doing screwing around with a PC).

I haven't attempted to pull the fronts of these components yet, I thought I'd ask for you guys/gals advice first. What do you think?

If you're patient about it, they come off with little problem. Most of the face plates are just held in by plastic tabs, press those in and pop the plate off. The front of most CD-ROM trays are clipped on the tray, usually you pull up gently to remove. If you take your time you should be able to get them off without damaging anything.

The CDROM, DVDROM, and CDRW drive panels are actually really easy to get off. The panels are attached to the side with these plastic things sticking out into the metal part of the drive. Push them in and pull the front panel out. The panel on the tray itself can be removed by pulling the thing upwards.
