I bought an ok case to play with, the evercase at newegg and installed a window.

I was afraid how some of you went to the hospital from the blades of the dremmel breaking. After a while, I got use to it.

I went through 2.5 Reinforced Cutting blades on the dremel.

It actually took me 1 hr to cut and 2 hrs to get that annoying window in the molding.

I've got the thermal controlled fan that doesn't blink. I've got on order a red cathode light coming and a Lian Li 65 case too. This case replaced my Antec SX830 and the Lian Li replace the Antec SX1030

Looks nice Pothead, I've got the same case, only in black. I'm thinking of putting a window in my Rig as well, but on mine, it will have to be closer to the front of my rig as my Evercase has a side mounted fan w/ filter already.

I was talking to GTXproject the other day. We both cut our side fans out. The front works fine as an intake since there are slots on the side and botton of the front panel for air to get in. You can also just drill holes in the plexi glass. PCmods has some of the kits with holes already for fans.

BTW, if you move it close to the front, you will only be seeing most of your drives and maybe half of your mobo. I put it close to the back to show the LED fan, the mobo, the split loo, and maybe a laser cut grill if I get one.

If you had fun, then you definitely were not doing it right. Im ready to throw my case into a trash compactor. Im doing a watercooling setup and I got more leaks than the titanic.

BTW, the window looks nice.

You can easily get the black "split loom" (thats what they call it I guess) at any hardware store in the electrical dept. However, if you want something like blue, yellow, or red, go to Pep Boys or any big chain autostore. The people that work there are dumb. I asked them for split loom. They show me the black ones. Then I walked around the store and found the colored ones in a different aisle, beats me. I still haven't found any white split loom yet. If you don't want to look for them, try kdcomputers.com. They have them in lots of colors.

Fry's, (if you have one near) has the split loom for wiring in different colors. I have both the black and the white from them. I think they also had blue, but don't quote me on that.

Great work man!!! Power tools, and PC cases DO mix. :D Gotta love the wire covers, I just wish I had that rubber seal for the window. :D

Split loom is basically a flexible plastic tube with a slit. You can bundle your cables inside it for a neat appearance and it will help keep stray wires out of your fans. Here's a close-up photo of what it looks like: split loom in red. If you look carefully at the photo you can see the slit.

You may be talking about me here! :);) Once u get used to it it is pretty simple! :)

I need to finish my case off, the weather is OK today so i may be able to get another coat of paint on, and then i think i will go get a 10" blue neon from the local car shop and see if i can get it finished off in the next week or so :)

Case looks great, brilliant job on the window! :D

I got the kit from pcmods. I ordered it with the translucent molding.

I dunno, but it kinda seems pricey for a window kit when you can actually get plexiglass and molding for a few bucks and do a homemade kit.

Where can I find case molding? I tried Lowe's and couldn't find anything. I wasn't really sure what to look for so I can't say for sure they didn't have what I need. I was looking in the Window/Door sealing area.

Pothead, is the molding transparent enough that you could see any scratches near the edges? I'm thinking of swapping out the normal, black molding in favor of this new, translucent type. The are several scratches in the panel from where I cut the hole that are currently being covered. If the new molding is going to let them show through I'd consider not buying it. Thanks.

When I used my dremel I was very careful. There were very little scratches on mine but I also sanded it up a bit. If I look long enough, I can see the small scratches. If you have decent sized and obvious scratches, I would not recommend the clear molding.

Thanks, pothead. The non-fiberglass reinforced cutoff wheel I used snapped in half and the blade jumped causing a nasty gouge at the bottom of the panel. I'll stick with the black stuff until I decide to paint the case.
