I'm thinking about getting back into airbrushing and I'd like to pick up a few tools to do work on computer cases, Xboxes, etc., to do things like cut out shapes, add windows, and so on. A dremel is the default tool; what else do you guys use?

I will no longer post in modding, lapping or tooling threads because there is far too many inexperianced know-it-alls crapping in threads of this type.
Google is your friend.

Dremel, drill, nibbler tool, hole saws in the popular fan sizes. That's about it.

I use all the above except for hole saws. Haven't done my own fan holes yet. I'm into quiet computers and the fewer fans, the better. ;)

I'm just the opposite and am into cooler computers and lots of fans. :D But I have moved on to highly efficient fans with low sound output... in fact I just ordered two new fans... a 120mm 78CFM 21dBA intake fan and a slightly noisier 92mm 63.40CFM 39.5dBA that will exhaust out the back. I have 4 80mm fans inside my case too but they are low speed and quiet.

I'm tempted to cut holes in the bottom and the top to create a chimney effect with a couple old Nidec Gamma 28's inside to keep the entire inside of the system's air swirling around.

It would be easier to just take the side off my case but I have a very curious puppy and I don't need her getting into any of my fans/chewing on wires, etc. :p

Sounds like the specs on some Thermaltake fan.

I used to have a couple of Gamma 28 fans from Radio Shack. Those were pretty neat.

I use a Dremel for fine work.
A RotoZip for hole cuts, especially now for the 250mm (9.8") case fan installs I planning.
I use a 110mm hole saw for my 120mm YL fans installations too.

Dremel (corded XPR400 or something like that)
heat gun (for heat shrink)
soldering iron
liquid flux (greatest stuff on earth for soldering)
drill
molex crimper (most of my mods are to the PSU & wiring system)

Yep, the 120mm is a Thermaltake. The Thermaltake spec is kinda hard to believe because it is so powerful and yet makes the least noise.

My current 120 intake fan is some funky 110+CFM super loud job... I have it on the "fan only" output from my P/S so it only runs at about 1/4 speed. Full speed is much cooler but way too noisy(sounds like the old Delta "screamer" fans, yikes).

Yeah, those Gamma 28 fans were fun. :D

I would get some small rubber u-channel to finish off any fan holes you make. It makes it look cleaner.

So a dremel can cut through a computer case? I am thinking about putting a window in my case and didn't know exactly how I should go about doing it.
