Case modding tool question

I'm doing a major case mod that involves adding an internal drive bay. I need a tool that will cut slots for the drive mounting screws for me. I'm thinking of something like a drill bit that will cut sideways like an end mill (expensive machinist's tool). But, alas, I don't have a mill.

Anybody know of a dremel or drill bit that will cut sideways? Something on the order of 5/32" diameter would be about right.

Thanks.

Well considering it is sheet metal, I would use a scroll saw and leave some meat so you can go back with a dremil and clean the edges up real nice. Just get some goos Sheet metal blades and make sure the case is locked down so it wont move.

there is a Dremel tool thats like the "rotozip", but i haven't tried it yet and it may not be as sturdy, theres a beveled attachment to the head and a special bit for side cutting... but i have not tried it and i'm not sure how effective it will be on case metal...

I have that dremel attachment and it walks alot. The skillsaw will make a straighter edge.

thx Blackflagg, he he, personally i've been modding with a jigsaw/metal cutting blade, shielding the case with old socks and stuff to prevent scratching, it does a decent job but it's difficult to keep vibrations down while working... clean up is always the best with the dremel !

I used my dremel tool with a cut off wheel to cut holes for my cooling fans. It worked great... The cutting wheels look like a miniature CD (About 1/2 inch in diameter) and are very cheap (about $5 for 36 of them). Hope this helps
