hey all

i want to mod a lian li pc-60 case like they did at designcomp.com and dont get raped with the price. but, even if it is more, ill probably use the supplies again. here is a kit found at caseetc.com ....

http://www.caseetc.com/cgi-bin/caseetc/000164.html

seems pretty cool, but anyone know how quiet these fans are? what are the quietest fans that still produce good airflow that are of this size. also, when drilling, u drill from outside of case to the inside? does this leave rough edges, do u need to sand after ? how long does a cut take? how painstaking is it? do i need a work bench? anyone know of a better site than caseetc or comparable one or a site that has case hole tutorials? thanks for your help in advance.

oh yah, is it easy to replace the leds and where do i get some that are the correct size. I want all blue leds :)

Well, you can try virtual hideout they have some really good tutorials. As for the drilling, I would go from the outside-->in. This way any gringing you hve to do will not be very noticeable. Also, the cutting is not very difficult. I use a dremel on steel cases, seeing as the case you are looking at is aluminum, it should be easier (aluminum is a softer metal). I would reccomend the "reinforced cutt-off" wheels that dremel makes for the cutting. I will have some tutorials on my site soon as well.

If you want a quiet fan then put the fan on a switch and turn it off when you are using the computer then turn it back on when you leave.

do what i did: get a three-way switch for the fan. three settings: off, 5v, and 12v. normal operation would be off or 5v, and gamming or S@H cracking would be running at 12v...
