i am going to build my first comp any day now (come on stock market). i was thinking i should get the best possible case within a reasonable price as it wont need upgrading with new technology, so i might as well get a good one as ill have it for a long time. i plan on experimenting with overclocking down the road, maybe after the warranties on stuff die, so im going to need a cool case. i heard that aluminum conducts heat faster than steel thusly cooling better, but my friend told me that zinc plated steel is good too. the antec sonata is steel, and made for silence, does aluminum vibrate or something? tell me what you know about case metals.

if you have some crazy drives or get some cheap very thin aluminum i guess. just get a fan speed control thing, and a quiet seagate drive with fluid bearings. i like the weight difference, just get a chenming dragon or matrix. weigh next to nothing and have all that you need.

i guess i should say im looking at the xaser III. it comes in that flavor of "japan steel" and another one about 40 bucks more in aluminum. does aluminum cool that much better that i should pay that much more for it? also theres the cooler master atc-710 in zinc coated steel, if it cools as good as aluminum, id really prefer to get it since its way cheaper, but still looks sweet.

that coolermaster case looks like a Chieftec case with a different front. IMHO I would go with the Coolermaster case, I think the Xaser III Case looks ridiculous.

i think the price/looks on the coolermaster is better too, but my question is which is on heat dessipation, and wheather zinc coated steel is better than aluminum.

I really doubt there will be any difference in heat dissipation between the two cases. Maybe 1 or 2c but thats about it. I would get the Coolermaster, buy a few panaflo fans and an Antec True Power supply and you're all set. It'll be a nice quiet cool PC.

i like the coolermaster case, the Xaser just looks plain goofy. as for the material, computers dont get hot enough for you to see a considerable difference in heat dissapation between different materials
