You should be aware that any sound deadening material is likely to make your system run hotter.

do NOT use dynamat or related material. it will do nothing for sound deadening and it will totally ruin your case over time. The stuff is AWFUL

it's stuff used in cars to dampen vibration noise... vibration typically isn't the cause of most computer noise. I assume it will raise your ambient temp as well

I use dynomat and I see no Ill affects? dynomat Yes it will get dusty, But you can wipe it off. No it will not raise you case tempature. It will if you dont have good case fans. I agree that the stuff is mostly for vibrations. But I did notice a slight difference in the amount of noise comming from my case.

Is it worth the 22$ Hummmmmm I will let you decide ;)

Just want to point out that sound is sound regardless of whether it is produced by a case fan or a 15" woofer. DynaMat is sound damping material that slows down (absorbs) sound waves and for car audio use it is used to lessen road noise and to dampen vibrations that cause car doors and windows to rattle. It is probably designed to be more effcient with low frequencies but it is sound damping material just the same.

Any other material will be less effective at reducing noise unless it is specificaly designed as sound damping material. Mouse pads would probably be the next best thing after DynaMat.
