Case for new computer

Entity

Lifer
Upgrading to a beastly computer for producing lots of videos (Screencasts using Camtasia):

Badaxe2 + e6600 + Tuniq Tower (I'm not positive on the Tuniq but it's likely)
Up to 4 SATA drives (2 will be 150gb 10kRPM raptors)
1x GeForce 7900GTO upgraded to GTX (o/c'd etc) on PCIe
1x other GeForce (right now I have a non-geforce Nvidia card)

I like my Sonata II right now a lot, but I'm not sure if it'll keep everything cool enough given how much equipment I'll have in there (I also don't know how well it will work with the Tuniq or other large equipment).

Any recommendations would be very nice. I haven't figured out what PSU I'm using yet either, so anyone that wants to recommend on that will be listened to as well. 🙂

Well, super low isn't necessary but I really would like them to be low enough that I don't have to worry much. I'm not adverse to buying a new case at all but it can't be doublewide like the ones listed at mountainmods (I'm not really prepared to enter the world of water cooling either, though it might be cool I'm just not sure I have the time/space/etc necessary to deal with it).

Since I'm looking at the Tuniq, good airflow really is a must; what are the overall thoughts on the Chakra cases?

the perfect case for you!

CM Stacker - T01

It doesnt cost uber expensive like the MM UFO. Its not heavy either if your looking for something light.

It can house 3hard drive cages, each containing 4 hard drives, and still give you room for 3 more top bays.

You can also add a second PSU, and it comes with Dual PSU converter. So you just plug a second psu, and your ready to go. You could essentially leave a dedicated PSU for the cpu board, and then dedicate the other psu to your video and hard drives. See 😀

You cant really complain about that now can ya?

Something like the blue orb, Thermalright 120 or Zalman 7700 series would work better with a Chakra or any other case with the big fan(s) on the side - otherwise, the CPU cooler will be fighting for air.

I ran a loaded overclocked P4 system with a 6800GT and 3 hard drives, 2 opticals, and 3 PCI cards in the original Sonata, your system should be fine in your Sonata II. If the case couldn't provide the proper airflow to keep components cool then why would they give you the means to put them there? Just be sure to add the front fan and I'm reasonably sure you'll be ok.

I'm really leaning toward the stacker (T01), which has the vent but no fan. Any comments on that?

I like the T01 too You can put a 250mm fan into that space (or a 3 or 4-pack of 120s). Performance-PCs.com has the 250mm fans... Also look at the thread I started about the Akasa-like case:

I ended up buying an Antec P182 at Fry's after looking at it for a while today, along with a Seasonic S12 650w PSU.
