case fans

i'm using the heat temperature sensitive ones from compusa. they run at lowest 20 cfm at 20 db. and at most 32 cfm at 29 db.

What size?

I have two 120mm AddA fans on my case doing like 66CFM at 36dBA. I've got another 120mm Panaflo M1A doing about 83CFM at 35dBA.

I currently have a panaflo going at 103cfm and 40ish DBA
WAY WAY too loud. I bought a fan speed controller and shoved it on 2day because of that thing.

lol sensitive? 40dBA isn't that loud...

actually, 40dBA is really loud to me as well. I used to have a thermaltake volcano 12 hsf and that thing went upwards of 40dBA and I simply couldn't take it. I had to replace it with a Zalman. I personally make an effort to not put anything over 25dBA in my rig.

I got used to near silence out of my box, not to meniton - i like to keep my computer on at all times, and its in the room where I sleep.

that 40db is a massive improvement in sound over the normal undervolted antec 120mm fan, If it was slightly lower i wouldn't mind so much, but as itmis now its a noticeable sound - something i realized that I don't like from my computer.

I was hoping it would be quieter than my rocket cooler pro at max, annoyingly its actually louder.

Sure does pump a lot of air.
a few weeks ago my temps were 45/42 and now they're 38/32 *new heatsink on the nothbridge as well - Zalman passive + 80mm fan sitting ontop of my audigy)

More impreessive is the load temps.
Before they were 60/47 and now they're only 50/35

I knew my problem was a lack of airflow in the case - my videocard still gets up to about 80+ while at load, but i wasn't expecting that much of a difference.

I like the Glacialtech fans. They are advertised as pushing 37CFM at 950RPM (12V). Mine is at 12V and spinning at 1030RPM, and is VERY quiet. I don't know the DB or the CFM but it is supposed to be over 40CFM if the advertisement is correct. It is supposed to be about 19DB at 950CFM.

never get temperature sensitive fans. they tend not to work. they usually only really have 3 rpm changes at certain temps. very general guesses since they don't know what you want orhow hot the stuff is getting. the ranges are wide..fat chance the fan is going to move from minimum or medium speed😛 that kinda stuff needs to be engineered in conjunction with the hardware its attached to for optimal function. ihad a few, used em as low rpm fans😛

I've got 8 fans running at 33db / 48.5cfm, and 2 120mm fans running at 42db / 108cfm. That isn't counting the two hd fans, two processors HSFs, and the video card.
Tas.

You guys think 40dBA is loud? I guess you haven't heard how loud the Vantec Tornado fans are yet. 🙂 It's about as loud as a high powered vacuum cleaner going off right next to your ear. 😱

I got the fan speed controller installed (easy, but moving wires around was sort of a pain)
Wonderful, absolutely wonderful. =)

2x Glacialtech: 1 on the CPU (Spire WhisperRock IV removed) 80mm, ~2000 RPM, 19db and 1 120mm ~950RPM, 19db and the Antec PSU ~950RPM 80mm x2. Everything else... passive cooling. So quite quiet system...

isn't 40 like 100 times lower than 20db?

man all my fans are near silent, 20db im guessing. the next loudest thing is my opticals idling
