Hello guys,

I have a Cooler master hyper 212 plus paired with Cooler Master Xtraflow fans in push/pull with my Phenom II x4. I also have a Corsair Carbide 400R case with the following fans:

1 120mm CM Blademaster PWM fan (21.2 - 76.8 CFM)
1 120mm Scythe Slipstream 1900 RPM fan (110 CFM)
4 120mm Cooler Master Blue LED 90 CFM fans
3 Corsair 44.2 CFM fans

Please let me know which fans should be setup as intakes and which ones as exhausts for an ideal airflow inside my case.

Imo I would put the scythe on the back and go with more intake and have the gpu/gpus balance it out.

for 1 gpu
1x 120 scythe 110 cfm on the back
4x CM 90 cfm on front and side intake
1x corsair 44.2 cfm and 1x CM 76.8 cmf on top
intake 360cfm/exuast 231 cfm

for 2 gpus

1x 120 scythe 110 cfm on the back
4x CM 90 cfm on front and side intake
2x corsair 44.2 cfm on top

intake 360cfm/exuast 198.4 cfm

Judging by the CFM, the Corsair fans look to be the quietest. Personally I wouldn't use any of the other fans without a fan controller.

If you want to use as many fans as possible, put two of the all the cooler master LED fans on the front, another two on the side, and the three corsairs as exhausts. This will achieve a positive air pressure. It won't make any difference to populate the bottom slot with so many intakes already

ok, I will put the corsair fans at the top but dont you think that installing the top-front fan will block the airflow for my Hyper 212 plus!!!!!

Your 212+ should be installed in the same direction as your front intakes - blowing air front to back.

But even if it was installed in a different direction, the top-front intake wouldn't "block" airflow to it. I'm not sure why you think it would

I have the Hyper 212 installed vertically (same direction as front intake). I am asking you as I have my Hyper 212 installed vertically, installing top 2 fans as exhausts would block the airflow or not? (especially the top front one)

Oh I get it now, I thought you mean the upper fan on the front panel. I had that same dilemma with my Define R3 fan setup, and in fact I tested whether installing an exhaust to the top front slot would have any effect. It made no difference to my temperatures, so I decided not to use that slot. I think it's fair to assume that it draws some of the cool intake air away from the CPU fan but also some of the heat radiation from the CPU heatsink, for an overall negligible effect.

Also, I don't think it'd be a good idea to use it as an intake either. I tested that too, and if I recall correctly, CPU temps were unchanged by HDD temps increased a bit.

So is this setup ok:

2 Cooler Master Xtraflow fans on the Hyper 212+
2 90CFM Cooler Master fans in the front (intake)
2 90CFM Cooler Master fans on the side panel (intake)
1 110CFM Scythe Slip Stream fan on the rear (exhaust)
1 76.4CFM Cooler Master Blademaster fan on the Top Rear (exhaust)

I will have 3 more Corsair 44.2 CFM fans left spare with me

Should I occupy the Bottom slot with an intake fan?
How about the Top front - I think its better to leave it empty or should I install a low RPM Corsair fan?

It won't make one bit of difference when you already have 360 CFM of intake air. I doubt you'd see any difference in temperature testing, but by all means give it a try just for the sake of experimenting

I would leave the top front slot empty.

What sort of components are you cooling anyway?

Hard Disk at front
Processor
GTX 560 Ti Graphics Card
8GB Corsair RAM

What processor? Is it overclocked? What CPU cooler?

From the looks of it though your system could be cooled fine with three ~1000rpm 120mm fans, unless your house gets particularly hot.

More fans does not improve what is already sufficient and it depends on your tolerance towards the noise that is made from having the extra fans.

As for myself, I have all fans blowing in to create positive pressure which supposedly will reduce dust from going into the casing. I also have filters on most of the fans because without them, the intake air is just going to bring in dust just as bad as negative pressure.
