Case Fan Set Up Help

Hi all, here is my situation.

I have a 80mm case fan slot in the front of my case (currently being used by a Panafalo), a 60mm case fan slot directly behind my CPU (rear of the case), and a 80mm case fan slot on the back side of the case directly above the Power supply (currently being used by a 80mm Panafalo).

My question is when I get the 60mm case fan how should I have all 3 fans set up? I was thinking that the front case fan would be blowing towards the CPU, the 60mm fan would be blowing out and thus sucking air out, and as for the 80mm fan above the power supply, well I'm kinda unsure how to have it setup: blowing in or out.

Could someone please give me some help on this?

Thanks

as a rule of thumb, the front case fan should draw cool outside air into the case, the one above the CPU should exhaust hot air out of the case, and as for the one above the power supply, it should also exhaust air out of the case, since power supplies get pretty hot and hot air rises. If you had it sucking air into the case it wouldn't do much at all.

so based on your feedback:

80mm Front Case Fan: Blow In
60mm Back Case Fan By CPU: Blow Out
80mm Fan Above PSU: Blow Out

ya got it! That will ensure optimum airflow throughout your case and will bring cool air into the case, and will exhaust the hot air out quickly.

swscorch, thank you so much. Two final questions. The CPU case fan spot is a 60mm spot. It does not look like I could mount the case fan inside the case. Could I mount it outside the case with it still blowing out? Also if I mount it outside the case could i use an 80mm fan with a 60-80 converter?

Thanks

You should consider making a blowhole in the side of your case to blow cool air in and even out the air pressure. 3 fans out and 1 in is a lotta negative pressure and a dusty case.

Here's an article about blowholes that you can read through about how to make blowholes.

People can post specifics if you have any other questions after that. Its a great project and makes your case nice and chilly and bring temps close to room temps if not slightly lower.
