Case fan question. (Panaflo)

I just bought 10 of these fans because they were cheap as hell. Since these are 2-pin and I need a 3-pin conversion to plug into my fan header on the motherboard in order to use, how would I be able to do this? Basically, I'm looking for the cheapest way to go with this. I am pretty sure that there are 2-3 pin converters, or 2-4 pin also that would work, but those run like $1.50 a piece, and I'm looking to connect 5 fans to the case.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The 2 pin will work on your mobo, just clip off the little nubin that keeps it from sliding on.The 3rd wire is just for rpm monitoring.I believe svcompucycle.com has the 3pin to 4 pin conectors but again you'll need to remove the lil nubin.

Heh well if you're going to connect 5 of them to your case, you might as get the
2->4 pin convertors. Since these fans don't support RPM monitoring (I think),
it's kind of pointless to connect them to the motherboard headers. Keep them
all the same and you can use them anywhere!

Actually, you are correct. I don't have 5 fan headers on my motherboard. I'd have to get the connectors to the PSU in the end. But I'd still like to know.

toro 45 thanks, I will try that out whenever I get the chance tomorrow. Thanks.

You could always splice the wires with those of a fan that uses a 3-pin connetor, leaving the RPM monitoring one to hang loose. Of course, then you'd be wasting a 3-pinned fan, but what the hey. =)

Got one more question before I plug too many fans in my motherboard fan headers.

(I had a delta plugged into my old computer's mainboard and it shorted it out. I was told that the fan brought in too much current and did that.)

Now my question is: can I plug in more than one fan into the motherboard's headers without shorting out any of the headers on the board?

do you mean 2 or more fans on one header or one each for all headers?

if its the the later, as long as they arent those delta screamers... i say youd be fine. :)
i myself have 3 fans attached to my mobo, 1 compaq high flow 90mm, 1 panaflo 80mm, 1 GlobalWin (7000RPM)

if its the former, i dont think your board might handle that. besides, why risk it? :)

ps: merry christmas everyone!

A Merry Christmas To You Too!!! :)

Well, I meant (on my motherboard there are more than one fan header). Would I short out my motherboard by running more than just the CPU fan plugged in?

I have the panaflo's and not the delta anymore. I don't see why the delta caused a short in the headers; does it require more current than other fans? I guess it would make sense that it does because it takes it so much more air. Anyhow, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
