hi all, just ordered myself 2 Antec Blue LED 80mm temp controlled case fans...
...these fans have the standard 4 pin power connector with the red and blue wires, and then there's a 3 pin connector with a yellow wire wich is called the "motherboard signal connector" (i know the link isn't for the Blue LED style fans, but they have the same power connectors as these standard ones). Does this yellow wire just tell the motherboard what RPM the fan is rotating at (for temp/fan monitoring programs), or does the yellow wire send the ambient temperature to the fan and that's how it controls it's speed?
if I need the yellow wire for the speed control...I only have 1 motherboard fan connector (other than the PSU fan connector and the CPU fan connector), would I be safe using one of these thingamajiggies to get both fans's yellow connector to be functional on the one fan header on the motherboard? I'm assuming it would be safe since the power and ground (red and black) wires are through the normal 4 pin power supply connector.
if the yellow wire is simply for reporting fan speed, i'll probably just forget about it all together cause i don't monitor that stuff anyway.
Thanks for any info anyone has on this subject!
