case fan advice

You can't conclude that fans will be quiet just from the type of bearing that the fans uses. You would have to take into account the quality of the motor itself and the blade design, rigidity of the frame also plays a role. If it is true that FDB/HDB fans are quiet, then the Scythe GTs with its ball bearing fans will be noisy but it is in fact one of the most silent fans you could get.

I have a pair of Noctua NF-P12's with SSO bearing which is similar to FDB/HDB fans and it is silent but not that huge of a difference compared to my set of Noiseblocker XLP with sleeved bearing. If you're a firm believer that FDB/HDB fans are quieter, get the cheaper Artic Cooling F12 which does come with the same variation of FDB/HDB. I would only get the Silverstone AP series if I wanted the focused airflow for a very particular purpose.

check out the newegg feedback.
"*Seriously? Pre-Drilled Mounting holes would be Nice"

"I had a LOT of trouble getting these installed. Make sure you pre-thread these with a tool, or outside of the case, or use an alternative mounting solution to standard fat fan screws (like the long ones that are threaded on the end, in conjunction with a nut if necessary... or zip ties)."

" Installation was a pain, probably caused permanent and irreversible wrist damage... well maybe not... but I had sore hands.
I ended up having to use pliers and some crazy glue to get one of them in..."
