Case Damaged in Shipment -- How Does Newegg Handle It?

I just opened up my new Chieftec DX-01WD and was disappointed to find that it had been totally trashed by FedEx. I've already made an RMA request to NewEgg. I did this because the FedEx site says that the shipper must file the claim. One thing's certain; I don't want to pay FedEx another $18 to ship it back to NewEgg! Can anybody give me a heads-up on how this will play out?

THANKS!

You call Newegg to file a damage claim, and they send FedEx out to your establishment to pick up the item.

I had a situation once where I received a damaged item from Fed Ex. The shipper filed a claim, got reimbursed, but Fed Ex never came out to pick up the damaged unit. I called the shipper and told them about it. They said don't worry about it because they got reimbursed anyway. So I ended up with 2 of the thing I bought. One was damaged (cosmetically only) but fully functional. That would be sweet if you ended up with 2 cases out of this. You could maybe mod the damaged one since it's damaged anyway!

Thanks for the quick, reassuring responses!

I assume that my RMA request describing the shipping damage will trigger the response you described, John.

Somehow I just don't feel that lucky, Maggotrt. And this case is really pretty severely damaged; from the side, it's out of square by over 1/2", the rear panel is warped and pushed in, and a couple of the metal seams have split.

Thanks again!

The RMA request will most likely just get you a response saying that it has been approved and where to mail it, etc... I would definitely call them about it.
