Case cooling

This is for the system in my sig. It's all housed in normal sized budget tower case. I have a side window with an 80mm intake fan, and a 80mm exhaust fan at the back, below my PSU.

I have room to mount another 80mm fan at the rear, and 2x80mms at the front. I'm fairly confident I can modifying the front mounts to accept a single 120mm fan instead.

So, here's what Im planning to add.

Chipset: Zalman NM-NB47J passive chipset cooler.

CPU: Nothing for now, but maybe an XP-90 with a Panaflo in the future.

Rear: Panaflo 80mm fan, Medium Speed with RPM - FBA08A12M1BX(32.1CFM/28.0 dBA)

Front: SilenX 120mm Blue LED Fan (14dBA/58CFM)
http://www.pccasegear.com/prod2587.htm

I know that some of you will say not to get the SilenX, but a friend of mine has some 80mms, and he reckons they really are silent. A 120mm should be even better. Also, it's illuminated, which means it'll match the front of my case.

Also, I figure I should probably get grills for my intake fans, as my PC sits on the carpet floor, and seems to suck in a fair bit of dust. Only thing is, I will have to put the grills behind my fans (because they're illuminated). Any suggestions here?

Also, I was thinking of adding a fan controller, but I figure I can leave the SilenX running at full speed, and run the panaflo off the MoBo header.

Thanks in advance guyz (and girlz).

I really love my Panaflo L1A's... the slow speed models. Silent.

They seem to move enough air for my system.

I noticed you are from Australia (spotted high $ prices on the fans so I checked).

Sidewinder Computers are a nice outfit in the US. They ship internationally (have shipped to me in the UK) and are reasonably priced with a nice range of cooling products including 80/92/120mm versions of the Panaflo fans from L/M/H/U. Im ordering from them shortly, more Panaflo's and a fan controller.

Browse a little, ask for a quote and perhaps you'll save a $ or 2.

Putting filters behind the fans isnt the best idea but if you want LED's, I cant suggest a better way. 1 120mm intake would probably be better than 2 80mm's in terms of noise to CFM so if you are confident of modding, that would probably be a good way to go.

Alright, cool.

I'll check out sidewinder. My only worry is that shipping to here would cost more than I would save...

Thanks 4 the advice.

2 Panaflos + delivery from Sidewinder = ~£25
2 Panaflos + delivery from UK firm = £26

Yeah, you might end up losing any "savings" on the delivery charges and it will take longer to arrive but its worth taking a look imo. I might be picked up a fan controller and some misc wiring from there as well. Since I cant find the fan controller i like the look of in the UK, it turns out that Sidewinder give me a better deal.

It was just a suggestion to give you another option so to speak.

Yeah. I just had a look at their gear.

Their CCFL lights are US$10 for a pair. The cheapest I could find here was AU$30 for two.
Also, the XP-90 was less than half as expensive there.

BtW, did you have to contact them via email to get it sent to the UK? The only options I could find for shipping were US and Canada.

Thanks

My first ever PayPal transaction was with these guys. I guess if you sound geniune, then you'll have no problem there.

OK, cool. My only problem there is that I cant put any money on a PayPal account because my bank account is Australian, and I don't have a credit card.

Thanks, I'll look into it.
