case cooling

I'm having CPU heat issues (non O/C'd) and it shuts down my machine. Is it better to leave the case open or closed ? I only have one 80mm fan at the front bottom of the case and no other fans (except for the Video Card and HSF of course). What's the best thing to do ?

SHould I buy another 80mm and hook it up to the back of the case blowing out and shut the case ? Or leave it open and do something about the HSF ?

new HSF and better cooling, in general 2 front intake, 1 side (video card/pci area) 2 exhaust and then the PSU exhaust

I agree with the new HSF. Also, get a panaflo for the secondary fan and I would recommend replacing the first one with a panaflo as well. Great airflow and not NEARLY as loud as a Vantec Tornado 😉.

I'm guessing you're saying a closed case with these 80mm fans running is optimal cooling ?

5 80mm fans is way overkill if you're not doing any major overclocking and have minimal hardware.

You should be able to get by with one intake in the bottom front, and another in the rear directly under the power supply. If that doesn't help, you may need a better heatsink for the CPU.

If you have a few hard drives, high-end video card, fast 2ghz+ cpu, etc. Then you may need additional fans.
