Case cooling question...

I am getting high case temps, so I need to make some changes. My biggest problem is fresh air entry, with only one 80mm fan providing intact at the front. I cannot add more (easily) to the front or sides with my case.

My thought is to add two 80mm's at the bottom, with filters, to bring in cool air and two 80mm fans at the top for exhaust. I've looked around and have not seen anyone with fans mounted on the case bottom. Any reasons why I shouldn't? I will add an inch sor so will larger case feet to get better air flows underneath. Also, would I be better off using single 92mm's instead to minimize vibration/noise??

Lastly, I want to run a duct from the back of my case to the cpu for direct cool air delivery. Any ideas on what makes the best ducting material? I suppose I could wander around Home Depot, but I thought I'd see if anyone has any specific suggestions first. Thanks

A friend of mine has 2 80 mm intake fans on the bottom of his case and that seems to work fine for him. I don't know, fans on the bottom might bring more dust into your case, but I could be wrong there.

well first of all, i'd reccomend having a backside exhaust (a fan right below the psu, blowing air out the back). this will suck the hot air that comes off the heatsink. you could put a blowhole in (a topside exhaust) to expel any of the hot air that rises

now that i think about it...a really killer way to to cool your pci cards and harddisks would be to put in the 2 bottomside intakes, as you already suggested.......but also an intake on the side of you case, blowing air right onto the pci cards.

now you got all this air coming in from the bottom/sides, and then air being sucked out from the top/back

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention the 80mm silencer intake (low front) and also one mounted just under my PS for exhaust. I just don't feel like they are doing the job though. I might try nibbling out the case where the fans are mounted to get better airflow. Otherwise, I think I'll try mounting two 80's in the very bottom of the case (with filters for dust). I'll also put two in the very top in front of the PS for exhaust. If this is sufficient, I will convert the exhaust under the PS into a fresh air duct for the CPU. Lots of work to do!
