Case Closed: Is this a natural gas or a water tank?

Natural Gas or Water Tank?

Anyone have any ideas?

Update:
I was just told that ALL LNG tanks are spherical due to the pressure and will have vapors coming off of them from the liquid LN2 used to cool it, so LNG is out. Oil is also probably out because it would have to be in a dirt basin to catch any leaks, per the EPA and there is clearly no break in the vegitation big enough for such a basin.

I think we have a winner with water.

?? WHere is that?

It's up the valley from me about 4 miles on the other side. I took that picture from my office. Sorry about the gamma. I didn't have a mini-usb cable or a CF reader in the office to proof it with.

all i can say is its certainly a beautiful addition to an otherwise plain nature-filled hill

yeah, tell me about it 🙁

I think the facility it's part of is abandoned... with all of the development on my side of the valley, I'd hope it comes down in the next few years. OTOH, there are industrial ghettos only a few miles further up the river so.... mabye it's wishful thinking.

Why do you care? 😕

That thing is fvcking huge. It's at least 200 feet across. If it was filled with LNG, I'd really like to know. I have this thing about liking to know where the things that coud suddenly explode and kill me are, even if the chances are infinitley remote.

Well I bet you could contact the city's zoning office or whatever, they should know what it is. I would hope.

I actually hadn't thought of that... good idea...

Will you live your life any differently if it's natural gas?

No... but it still falls under the category of "things that I'd like to know"

what's wrong with asking questions?

Oh, I know I know! Pick me!!

Why don't you do what us Alaskans are fond of doing...

shoot it repeatedly until you puncture the side and see what comes out.

Are there gas stations nearby too? Better stay away from them too.

I'd imagine that if that thing was filled with LNG, if it were to explode, it would probably kill over 10,000 people. Now I know that the chances of that happening are infinitley remote and that LNG is one of the safest forms of engery humanity utilizes, but I'd still like to know. What's so fvcking hard to understand about that?

Don't you know that asking questions is unAmerican? There's no room in our free society for people like you.

That's why I keep an AK-47 in the house... incase that kind of scarcastic attitude ever beccomes reality :thumbsip;

??? salt storage??? I've never seen salt stored that way... There are several salt mines in my area (within 60 miles), and they salt the heck out of roads around here.. (i.e. every town, village, city for hundreds of miles has salt storage) There are too many problems that would be experienced with a tank of those dimensions for salt storage.

Even if there was a dirt basin, it's not oil since there doesn't seem to be a refinery nearby, and it's not near any sort of harbor or pipeline.
