Case button doesnt touch optical drive eject button

okay so i removed the faceplate so the drive would fit in the 5.25" shelf on the case (Lian Li PCV800)

I get it in as far as it can go, and still, no contact between the case button and the drives eject button

I'm completely open to suggestions...help?

you obviously have the drive or the case cover or faceplate not installed correctly. Have someone else look at it. 4 eyes are better than 2.

That is because the case button is meant to press the button on the faceplate ( that you removed ) which then presses the actual button in the CD Drive. Reinstall the faceplate on the drive and then figure out why you cannot get it in the case and fix that issue.

Or

You could " superglue " an extension onto the case pushbutton so that it will reach the CD Drive button. But don't blame anyone if you screw up the case trying to glue it on.

i had to take off the faceplate because the plate was wider than the cage

i even read a review on the case once mentioning how the reviewer had to take the faceplate off

now that its off though, i guess supergluing an extention is the only option

any ideas on what to use?

wrap some scotch tape on it and layer it up...you may laugh but i have had to do it no some cases for the floppy eject button to work etc....

Just find a piece of plastic or wood and cut it to the appropriate length with a razor/carpet knife. Personally, I'd glue the extension to the CD drive's button and not to the case. CD drives break and get replaced. You may want to use other drives in that case or sell the case.

I agree. Don't glue it to the case, as that is way more expensive than your optical drive. Using tape or a piece of plastic like a small cable tie (cut it to size and glue that) attatch to your optical.

If the problem is just the faceplate on the drive on the width, trim it down until it fits. As long as you don't cut the locking tabs that snap it into place... Much better than the ghetto fix.
