Can anyone explain what the difference between CAS2 and CAS3 is? Is the difference significant? Can you mix and match the two? and how do I know what my current memory is?

Thanks,
Karl

Thanks...
I guess more specifically, there's this place which is selling 512mb of PC133 really cheaply....but I'm afraid it might slow down my current memory.

The ram in question is:
http://www.ncix.com/shop/detail.cfm?id=6134
It's manufactures by NCP ..but I can't find much more information than that. I was quickly looking into it..and I heard all this talk about "unbuffered/buffered" and "cas2/3" and other stuff that I've never really known about when buying memory.

I currently have Shikaram premium PC133..I don't know much more than that except that it's supposed to be really good memory.

Any thoughts?
(btw, that's a *really* good price for CND)

I don't think adding more memory can slow you down unless for a coupla reasons:
1) You're an overclocker who uses RAM at it's max settings like 5/2-2-2 then getting CAS 3 memory for example would have an impact in overall performance.
2) Mixing memory results in stability problems.

More memory is always good, especially on OSes like Win NT/2K.
