CAS2 256MB PC2100 $44 shipped at Newegg

I thought this was a pretty decent price. Newegg has Dane-Elec 256MB CAS2 PC2100 memory for $39 with $5 shipping. This was the best price I could find on CAS2. Looks like it uses Nanya chips, from the pictures at Newegg. All the reviews I've seen of DDR sticks with Nanya chips have been pretty favorable. Good price, good stuff, good vendor. Works for me.
 
For $1 more you can get Buffalo Technology DDR DIMM 256MB PC2100
- 6 layer PCB Micron chips. I haven't used this memory before but
"Made in Japan" is always a good.

CL-2 or CL-2.5? no info on newegg and the product link on newegg does not work... for me
Buffalo is a good name in Japan... that's what I heard in Hong Kong....
They have LAN cards that are more expensive that the generic one...
 
According to Buffalo Tech's website, they don't make any CAS2 memory, only 2.5, so I still think the Dane-Elec is a better deal. I hope when I get it that it really works stably at 2.
 
I have the DANE-ELEC 512 @ cas2 running at 150 bus 2-2-2 in a ASUS P4B266C Mobo with no extra cooling or voltage to the memory. Runs flawlessly so far. I would absolutley recommend the memory and also Newegg. Excellent service, delivery and pricing. When they go to strictly free fedex shipping I will have to mortgage house for cash and deals. 🙂
 
memory Question ??? If my P.O.S. computer's web site says that I can only have 256 total memory what would happen if I went over that amount ??? I feel like such a dumb a$$ 🙂 Thanks Guys 🙂

Check out what crucial says about what your computer can handle. Use their memory selector on www.crucial.com and it will tell you how many sticks and the max you can use. If you add more than what your computer website says, your computer won't recognize it and could possibly refuse to boot.
 
I have dell dimension which uses memory at cl=2
but I still want to use crucial memory at cl=2.5 just because its quality are more reliable.
 
cbpzep...I used SisSandra to find out the brand and model of my mobo (didn't know because it was a pre-configured PC and documentation was crap) and how much memory (and configuration) my mobo supported. SisSandra was correct and the documentation of my PC builder was incorrect🙂.
 
How does this deal compare to the Micron 256 pc2100 at z buy? Isn't micron memory pretty high quality? Plus, it's $5 cheaper there. Came to $39 and change after shipping.

Am I missing something?
 
i got the dane-lec 256mb from newegg back when it was still $60! it's running at cas 2, 145 fsb with my gigabyte 7vrxp and athlon xp 1700 (overclocked to 1900). so far pretty stable, ran sandra benchmarks and couple games w/o problems.
