CAS 2.5 or 2?

I can get CAS latency 2.5 for 150$. (1 GB crosair) I can get 1 GB 2.0 CAs latency (Corsair XMS) for 200$. I cant go to BIOS,(store bought) so i cant change the latencys. 2 Q's

1. Will my MSI MS-6741 MOBO dectect the right CAS latency?

2. does the extra .5 CAS latency make a noticable difference to warrent an extra 50$.

If you're talking about a factory built system, don't worry about going from CAS2 to CAS2.5. You'll NEVER notice the difference.
Even running benchmarks will barely show any difference.
 
Yes your board will detect the SPD data just fine. No. the CAS2 won't have any noticeable impact on performance and it would be $50 wasted.
 
Only get either of those CAS2 sets if you're going to overclock your processor and memory more than a little bit when you get an NF4. If you're not doing that, or if you're fine with running a divider on heavier overclocks, get two of these Corsair Value Select modules. (You don't need to buy the DC pack--they'll work fine in dual channel if they're two of the same stick.)

cas latency makes no difference IMO for what you gain in performance. I wouldn't even spend $20 more.... $10 maybe though! 😛
